Synopsis

Following the unfortunate and untimely death of Malcolm, the only child of Sir and Lady Messie and owners of Mist Manor, they find themselves in a predicament – how can they avoid their wayward and rakish nephew, Beau D’Asham, inheriting the estate.

Their closeknit and sleepy Devonian village in S.W.England is suddenly disturbed by the arrival of the Englisch family from Frankfurt who are intent on becoming respectable members of English aristocracy. To this end, they have bought the Gate House at Mist Manor believing that close proximity to a respectable and cultured family such at the Messie’s, will enhance their status.

Despite a dramatic and frightening welcome, the Englisch family eventually start to impress on village life although not is all as rosy as it at first seems – strange goings -on amongst the inhabitants lead to tensions within the german family . And why does a female semi-naked painting in the boat house cause so much consternation? Why did a relative of the Messie’s suddenly disappear so many years ago? Exactly what does Beau D’Asham intend?
